Montréal Attractions: The Casino Montreal

The Casino de Montreal, situated on Ile Notre-Dame, is a somewhat untraditional casino complex that was first used as part of the city’s Expo ’67 event. Today the casino consists of three different buildings, with the main building covering five floors. Different card and table games, as well as slot machines, abound at this casino, while non-gamblers can soak in the atmosphere and enjoy restaurants, bars and cabarets that complement the casino activity. This casino is the only one in the city and is located on its own island just a few minutes from the downtown of Montreal. Surrounding the casino is a unique racetrack, home of the Montreal Grand Prix during the summer months. Casino Montreal is also known as Casino de Montreal.

The Casino

Casino de Montreal boasts over 120 gaming tables and 3,200 slot machines throughout the complex. In addition, players will be able to enjoy a host of other gambling activities, including electronic bingo, inter casino jackpots, video lottery, Keno lounges and even electronic racetracks.

The venue is open 24 hours a day, although some areas, such as the electronic Texas Hold ‘em poker gaming area have limited playing hours. Admission to the casino (including the restaurants and cabarets) is restricted to those over the age of 18.

Getting There

The Casino de Montreal makes it extremely easy for visitors to reach and offers free shuttle busses from a wide number of locations around the city. These shuttles are available seven days a week during the high season (May to October). In addition, the casino can be reached by public transport (bus or metro).

Cabaret

The Casino de Montreal hosts delightful cabaret shows in a truly authentic atmosphere. Spacious seats around tables that serve gourmet meals all face the stage where some of the most talked about shows are held. Top of the range technical equipment and excellent acoustics ensure that this is one show that spectators will not forget! The cabaret room can also be reserved for private events.

Dining

Casino de Montreal is home to several fine restaurants, each one as individual as the next, and all offering fine culinary delights within a unique environment. The Executive Chef Jean Pierre Curtat has overseen the kitchens in the casino since 1993 and the results have been impeccable. Since 2000, the prestigious Nuances restaurant, with its stunning view of the city’s skyline, has been awarded the CAA/AAA Five Diamond Rating, while in 2007, it was named “Restaurant of the Year” by the Guide Debeur. Nuances serves modern and classic French cuisine and complements the other restaurants in the casino perfectly. These include Buffet La Bonne Carte for exceptional buffet dishes from around the world, Via Fortuna, a delectable Italian offering, and the L’Entre Mise-Deli.

Four different bars are also on site, including the young and dynamic Poker Bar, the minimalist Le Carre bar, or the more relaxed Jardin d’Hiver and le Cheval bars.

Casino Montreal

Casino de Montreal is a definite must-see for anyone visiting Montreal, and a popular location for locals. This complex combines fast paced casino action, with excellent cuisine at several of the city’s top restaurants, and a fine drinking experience at many of its bars. Combined with its unique architectural design and convenient location, it is easy to understand the appeal of this casino.
