Center Bell

The Center Bell, located in downtown Montreal, Quebec, and covering nearly 16,000 square feet, is considered one of Canada’s largest entertainment and business centers, attracting nearly 1.5 million spectators every year to ice hockey games and shows. Believed to the most modern amphitheater in the whole of North America, the Center Bell is the official home of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team, headquarters of the Gillette Entertainment Group and the center stage of some of the country’s top shows. In addition, corporations and organizations regularly use this venue for their annual gatherings.

History

In 1924, Canada built what was considered in those days the tallest hockey arena in the country and called it the Montreal Forum. Seventy-two years later, a new arena, the Molson Center, replaced the Forum and was finally renamed the Centre Bell in 2002.

Hockey

The Montreal Canadiens, one of Canada’s most successful ice hockey teams, has called the Center Bell its official home since 1996. This team is the oldest continuously operating hockey team in the world and has won 24 Stanley Cup titles over the years. Thanks to the brilliant, fast action games, over 850,000 spectators walk through the doors of the Center Bell each year to watch the Canadiens take on some of the best hockey teams in the world. The arena can hold 22,000 spectators at one time and watching a hockey game in a full house is an experience that many people do not forget that easily.

The Canadiens Store

The unique Montreal Canadiens store, located in Centre Bell, houses products and memorabilia relating to this famous ice hockey team. Visitors to this store will be bowled over by the range of goods for sale, ranging from autographed collectibles signed by past members of the team, to authentic sticks and skates used during some of the most memorable games played by the Canadiens. In addition, visitors will find merchandise from some of the biggest brand names in the clothing industry stocked in this store, including Nike, Roger Edwards and Puma.

Entertainment

Some of the greatest shows in the history of the music industry have been held at the Centre Bell, and over 650,000 people visit this venue each year to take in over 120 shows. The center can hold between 10,000 and 14,000 people in its giant amphitheater, and 5,000 - 9,000 in the theater. One of the Bell Centre's most frequently performing stars is Canada's own Celine Dion, who has played at least 30 times at this location. In 2008, Dion broke a record in Canada's performing history when eleven shows in one year were all sold out within one hour of the tickets going on sale! All in all, this superstar performed in front of nearly a quarter of a million spectators in the Centre Bell in 2008 alone!

Centre Bell

The Centre Bell is an exciting complex that can adapt to pop star fans as quickly as it can to ice hockey fundies. Serving hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, this venue has created quite a name for itself on the Canadian cultural landscape.
